A shitty, half-assed public option is not necessarily preferable to expanding Medicare eligibility. If liberals insist on maintaining and expanding SCHIP to those up to 30 years old while Medicare expands to 55 or 50, we could gradually create a single-payer system. Maybe I’m just a naive, sunny optimist. Or maybe I doubt Joe Lieberman will be around in 2013.
