Senate confirms low-balling HHS Secretary

Oh, wait. Sorry. I just actually read the post, and it turns out that it’s not about the confirmation of a Health and Human Services Secretary who’s hung like a donkey. It’s about the confirmation of a Health and Human Services Secretary who KILLS BABIEZ.

Yesterday, while the world was battling swine flu and Arlen “Turncoat” Specter was endearing himself to Republicans everywhere, the Senate quietly confirmed former Gov. Kathleen “Kathyie” Sebelius as “Secretary of the HHS Pinafore,” whatever that means.

According to head of The New Main Street Singers Moral Majority Tom Coburn—who obviously doesn’t care for light opera—Sebelius’s confirmation will lead to a 100% chance of raining frogs:

Coburn, himself an OB-GYN, called Sebelius’ position on late-term abortion “a drastic and fatal character flaw,” and added, “I believe that’s a disqualifier.”

He finished by saying he will mark her confirmation by the Senate as “another signpost on our way toward oblivion as a nation.”

Sixty-five Senators (including two from Kansas whom Shelley claims are “pro-life” but who will obviously be voted off the Republican island by the end of the day today) voted to confirm Sebelius. Fortunately, despite Senator Coburn’s assertion to the contrary, the world hasn’t ended.

Yet.
